| The mission of the Manzanita Writers' Series is to
foster the local writing community, to promote the area's literacy and writing programs, as well as bring
well-known authors closer to the north coast reading public.
A program of the Hoffman center, the Manzanita Writers' Series will
feature a regional published author each month, usually on the third Saturday. After the reading, there will
be a brief question and answer period, and then local and emerging writers can participate in an Open Mic
session.* Afterwards, the featured authors are invited to sell and sign their books.
Readings will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hoffman Center Annex on 594
Laneda Avenue, across from the library, in Manzanita. A $5 donation is suggested.

Tips for Open Mic Readers: Writers can register at the door to read from their original work. The first nine registrants are invited to read for five minutes each. Here are some guidelines so that everyone who signs up gets the opportunity to read:
- Avoid lengthy introductions to your work, as that will be included in your five minutes
- Rehearse, and time, your piece at a moderate pace
- typically, five minutes will allow no more than 3 pages, double-spaced, in a 12 point font, or less than 1,000 words.
Return to this page often, as we continue to schedule more
authors for the upcoming months.
